I can’t believe how much information people are sharing for free on how to do patchwork and quilting, it’s amazing! Here is a round-up on block tutorials that I’ve found so far:
- For the beginner:
- Learning Classic Pieced Blocks | Sew, Mama, Sew!
- Skill Builder Series | Grey Cat Quilts
- Skill Builder Series | Piecemeal Quilts
- Charm Squares 101 | Oh, Fransson!
- Color Basics for Quilting and other articles on Quilt Making Basics | Oh, Fransson!
- An Organizational Tip | Oh, Fransson!
- Ellison Lane Quilts:
- Oh, Fransson!:
- Crazy nine-patch block
- Dresden plate block (guest at Sew, Mama, Sew!)
- Half-square triangle block (guest at Sew, Mama, Sew!)
- Paintbox block
- Spiderweb block (guest at Sew, Mama, Sew!)
- Wonky cross block (guest at Sew, Mama, Sew!)
- Sew, Mama, Sew!:
- Modern Block of the Month, a series introducing a new modern block each month July 2011-June 2012
- The Sometimes Crafter:
- Faster hourglass block
- Half square triangle (guest at whipup.net)
- The Quilter’s Cache is dedicated to blocks and seems to be an absolutely fantastic resource as far as information goes
There most likely will come parts 2, 3 and more, so I’ll end the first round-up here and will conclude that while these tutorials are wonderful, I also feel a bit overwhelmed. For my personality I think it is easier in the beginning to refer to one of my handful of books purchased so far, since there is more coherence within the two covers of one volume, if you know what I mean.
